Huge thanks to my readers

Wow! You are the best! If anyone would have told me three months ago that “Species Unknown” would be trending in the Top 10 on Amazon’s Christian Fantasy Books category for two weeks in a row, I’d have said that would be too good to be true. But you’ve all made it happen.

For a first-time author like me, seeing my book cover on the charts next to legends like Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti and C.S. Lewis is beyond exciting. It chokes me up with emotion. This is a dream come true for me.

Can you believe May will be my best book sales month yet? And it’s all because people like you took a chance on reading a book by a guy you’ve never heard of and liked it enough to tell someone else. I haven’t been running any ads, so the sales growth is all organic. I’m even picking up readers in Australia and the UK! That’s so cool!

But the biggest feedback I’m getting is, “When will the sequel be released!” Well, I’m writing it now, but if my cat, Ziggy, has anything to say about that, it’s, “Write faster!” So stay tuned and watch for a big announcement this summer. And thanks again for your kind support.

Update from the bunker

Hope you’re coping as best you can with all the craziness going on these days. I’m blessed to live on a farm where the nearest neighbors are a mile away and a traffic jam is seeing more than three cars on my way into town.

Thanks so much to all my readers who are making “Species Unknown” a success. It broke into Amazon’s Top 25 in the Christian Fantasy category this week and I’m grateful. If you’ve read the book, please help by leaving a review on Amazon or Good Reads. Those mean a lot to me.

These days I’m writing content for several outdoor industry websites and busy working on novel two of The Watch series. God willing, I’m aiming for a summer release. I always like to hear from readers, so shoot me an email to let me know how you’re doing. Thanks!

Let’s get to know each other

Thanks for visiting my website. I’ve been writing professionally for decades but this is my first blog. You’re on this page for a reason, so let me introduce myself. The text that follows shares my background and was taken from my freelance writing website www.dancarlson.net.

Dan started his broadcasting career at WCCO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis, as a TV weathercaster, producer and fill-in news anchor.  It was the beginning of a 25-year career in TV and radio that would expand into other roles in the broadcast industry (listed below).  Dan would eventually earn four undergraduate degrees or professional certifications from accredited institutions with emphasis of study in communications, earth sciences, broadcast meteorology and ministry.  He is also a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Motivated by a constant dedication to learning and expansion of professional skills, Dan cannot remember a time when he wasn’t working at least two jobs.  Doing so has given him a broad and diverse professional background.  The following is a list of positions in which Dan has more than two years of professional experience over the course of his career thus far:

Firsts

I had my first book signing over the weekend in Sidney, Nebraska. What a great time! People were so nice. Some brought in copies of my book they’d already purchased to have me sign them. Others bought multiple copies of “Species Unknown” for Christmas presents. The holidays are happy so far!

Excited and scared to death!
